Job Description:
DDL OMNI Engineering is currently seeking a Software Developer II for the Engineering Division, in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren. The position requires heavy experience in designing and architect level experience building complex solutions involving data mining, parallel machine learning and algorithm intensive solutions. The successful candidate will have significant experience with data intensive complex code bases and working with large amounts of data. This is a great opportunity for a motivated Software Developer II with first responders and textual data mining experience to participate in a team environment and make an impact immediately.
Education Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics or related discipline and 3 – 6 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Masters or PhD level preferred
Skills Preferred:
Qualifications:
• Strong background in Java
• Strong open source tools and technologies background
• Ability to work independently in a fast pace, deadline driven environment
Software Experience preferences:
• Experience with Lucene, Solr or building other search applications is a plus
• Experience with Hadoop, Mahout, Pig, Hive or other big data frameworks is a plus
• Experience with Jung, Prefuse, JfreeChart, Piccolo or other data visualization tools is a plus
• Experience with Mahout, Mallet, CLUTO or other clustering and topic modeling tools is a plus
These are NOT required for the position, but the desire to use them or learn them is required.
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance, which requires US Citizenship
