General Manager, Norfolk and San Diego Operations

Marland W. ParsonsMarland W. Parsons is General Manager of DDL OMNI’s Norfolk and San Diego Operations.  Serving in this capacity since 2007, he is responsible for the development of new business initiatives, including establishing business relationships to expand DDL OMNI’s current base in Norfolk and San Diego.  Mr. Parsons previously served as Vice President of the Simulation and Systems Division, a position he held since 1997. 

Following his retirement from the Navy in 1981, Mr. Parsons joined Omni Analysis Corporation supporting Tactical Training Group, Atlantic.  Following the acquisition of Omni Analysis Corporation by DDL OMNI Engineering in 1994, he continued to support Tactical Training Group, Atlantic where he continued his prior management duties.  He was a principal contributor to the IEEE 1248 Recommended Practices for Distributed Interactive Simulation Exercise Management and Feedback.

Mr. Parsons joined the Navy in 1956, was designated a Naval Aviator in 1957, and served in various operational and training assignments in Anti-Submarine (VS) and Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aviation, as well as afloat tours with Commander Task Force 77/Commander Carrier Division 5, Commander Destroyer Flotilla 10, and USS Inchon.  Mr. Parsons’ shore staff assignments included COMNAVAIRPAC, COMFAIRSANDIEGO, battalion officer and Director of Candidate Guidance at the Naval Academy, and Director of Professional Development at the Armed Forces Staff College.  He is a graduate of the Naval War College. 

His military service awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal (two strike flight awards), the Navy Commendation Medal with Gold star, the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards with combat V), as well as numerous campaign medals.
Mr. Parsons holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
