Mr. James E. Schaeffer
Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Schaeffer currently serves as Chairman, President, and
CEO of DDL OMNI Engineering Corp., where he is responsible
for articulating the company’s strategic vision and
values, and for the development and successful implementation
of corporate business strategy and operating plans. This includes
directing and coordinating the activities of business development,
administration, financial, and operating divisions to attain
corporate business objectives concentrating on core business,
new business diversification, cost management, and an active
acquisition program.
Initially, Mr. Schaeffer worked as a research and development
engineer, and progressed into senior management positions
with increased levels of responsibility. His work experience
included the development, production, installation, operation
and life-cycle support of acoustic systems, correction of
deficiencies of operational systems, and the continual assessment
and product improvement of systems due to technology advances.
He managed many IR&D projects, including the initial studies
and efforts required for the successful entry into new programs.
Typical research and development projects included the development
of communications systems. Specific responsibility included
the initial prototype design, fabrication, testing, and support
phases in the development of the systems.
Mr. Schaeffer joined DDL OMNI as President and CEO in November
1987, and purchased the stock of the company from Data-Design
Laboratories, Inc., in June 1990. This was followed by the
purchase of the stock of OMNI Analysis Incorporated in September
1994, CASDE Corporation in January 1997, Walcoff Technologies,
Inc., in September 2000, and Acquisition Planning Corporation
in January 2001.
Mr. Schaeffer serves on the Board of Directors of the Professional
Services Council, a national trade association that represents
for-profit professional and technical services contractors
doing business with the federal government, and commercial
and international markets. He also served on the Board of
Directors of the Association for Corporate Growth, a non-profit
corporate development organization with approximately 4,500
members representing 2,300 companies and 34 chapters throughout
the United States and Canada. Its mission is to promote the
professional interests of its members, who have assumed leadership
roles in strategic corporate growth, by offering a forum for
quality programs and education. Mr. Schaeffer served as President
of the Association for Corporate Growth-National Capital Chapter
(1997-1998). He serves on Mount Saint Mary’s University Board of Trustees and is a member of the Finance
Committee and is Vice Chair of the Audit Committee.
Mr. Schaeffer is a 1998 graduate of the University of Texas
at Austin where he received a master’s degree in science
and technology commercialization. He is also a 1984 graduate
of Mount Saint Mary’s College, where he received a
master’s degree in business administration. He received
a bachelor’s degree in management from Southeastern
University. Mr. Schaeffer is a member of the Honor Society
of Phi Kappa Phi.
